Volunteer at the Surf Ballroom
Volunteers are the heartbeat of the Surf Ballroom & Museum. Since our transition to nonprofit management in 2008, hundreds of dedicated individuals have contributed thousands of volunteer hours to support our mission. Several have even surpassed 3,000 hours of service—a testament to their passion and commitment.
Thanks to our volunteers, we’re able to:
- Keep ticket prices affordable
Remain open on weekends during the summer - Provide exceptional service during concerts and events
- Share our signature North Iowa hospitality with every guest
Whether you’re welcoming visitors, assisting with special events, or helping preserve historical artifacts, your time and energy help keep the Surf experience vibrant and memorable.
Volunteer Opportunities
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and skill sets. Opportunities include:
- Box Office & General Administrative Support
- Ticket Scanning, Coat Check & Merchandise Sales during Surf concerts & special events
- Archiving Photos, News Clippings & Artifacts
- Historical Research & Collections Work
- Committee Involvement
- Concert & Event Assistance
Our Board of Directors and Advisory Committees are also volunteer-led. While these roles are appointed, we encourage you to let us know if you’re interested in future opportunities.
